Coming up Gouldian illustrates the metamorphosis of a creative concept in an artist’s head to its physical form. Starting out as a raw ‘lump’ - a sense or feeling of something you can’t quite see clearly yet - slowly evolving into the final result that everyone else understands and enjoys. The idea is massaged and teased into life.

Here a flush of Gouldian finches start out as a nondescript block of earthy raw clay, is slowly refined into layers of coloured textured clays, gently finding form in their bird shapes and then finally bursting into song in their full colourful sweet selves.
